Story
I'm really proud to be raising money for Child Action Northwest (CANW) and have been blown away with the work they do to support children, families and vulnerable adults right across the region. The charity works with thousands of people every year who for one reason or another might be going through a tough time, and the difference they make to these lives is just huge.
Step up for CANW is this year's campaign for individuals, companies and community groups to raise money to provide children, young people, vulnerable adults and families across the North West much needed support.
Aside from CANW, I was really keen to sign up for some kind of fitness challenge this year. Those who know me will know that I've always loved sport but it's fair to say that I've let myself go a bit over the last few years... I've gained about 20kg, have been struggling to build or maintain healthy exercise habits, and have generally fallen off the wagon a little bit. Unfortunately this has had an impact on my mental health and confidence.
BUT 2023 is the year I get back on track! I know how much of a positive impact exercise has on my mental health and I'm really excited to get cracking!
As a starter, I've signed up for the North West Sprint Triathlon on 17th September and will be swimming 500m, cycling 20km, and running 5km as fast as I can. I've never done a triathlon before, don't own a bike (yet) and can just about manage a length of breaststroke so the next few months are going to be interesting.
I'll be keeping this page updated with all of my training, so if you're interested please do follow along. And if you're able, please consider sponsoring me :)
